Port Freeport – Berth 7 Backland Concrete Paving

This three-phase project built a twenty-acre concrete paved container storage terminal unit to enhance capacity at Port Freeport. The paved area classification is distributed as follows: Grounded Load Storage, Wheeled Storage, Refrigerated Cargo Storage, Grounded Empty Storage, Access and Circulation Roads.

The construction activities were phased to provide continuity to the Port’s daily operations and prevent significant impact to the tenants such as Vulcan Materials, Chiquita Brands, Dole Food Company.

Major work items included: 36,000 CY of limestone base removal, 6 IN cement stabilized limestone base subgrade mixed onsite, 87,000 SY of 15 IN JRCP with epoxy coated reinforcement, power duct bank extensions were added to enhance distribution and provide redundancy and installation of manholes for future reefer stations.
