This nearly seven-year CMAR project was completed with zero lost time incidents, zero citations for FOD, and on-time, under budget delivery on all 6 GMP’s. The project involved the removal and replacement of 200,000 SY (41.3 acres) of concrete pavement affected by Alkali-Silica Reaction (ASR) in the operationally dense T4 North Apron Area at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PSHIA). Work occurred in an active airport operational movement area directly adjacent to ongoing gate operations, with a majority of the work occurring at night. The project consisted of 49 construction phases broken into limited construction areas to mitigate disruptions to airport traffic and gate operations. Diligent planning, communication, and scheduling between Banicki, the City of Phoenix Aviation Department, the Design Team, and PSHIA Operational Entities was paramount for the successful execution of this project.
